The owner of a beauty salon in California has called for a boycott of “disgustingly” disrespectful behaviour from customers after receiving a series of “hate mail” in recent months.
Tanya Ritchie, who runs the Jules and Jules Beauty Salon in the city of Palmdale, told The Independent that the harassment and verbal abuse from customers began at the start of November.
“There was a lot of bullying in the salon,” she said.
“People would come in with their families and kids, they would come to the salon, sit down and start screaming, and then we’d start shouting at them, ‘You’re a faggot!
You’re a racist!
You’ve got to go back home!'”
Ritchie said she was “shocked” by the harassment, and that a number of women and girls were targeted for “harassing” customers and refusing to leave.
She said the harassment escalated over the course of the week, and she had to take measures to prevent it from escalating further.

“Some have said they have been victims of this, and some have said it’s their own experiences.”
Ritchie says she has received a number from women who have been harassed and abused in the past.
She has also been approached by other businesses in the state who are not using the same “disgraceful” tactics.
