How to Save Your Face at the Luxury Salon You Want to Buy

In 2017, luxury brand Elys Beauty Salon closed its doors after nearly 40 years of operation in the U.S. The iconic salon in West Hollywood was a fixture of the glamour-centric, luxury fashion and fashion-forward culture of the early to mid-’90s, as well as a cultural touchstone for women of color.

Elys founder and CEO Jean-Claude Brice was named the first woman to hold the position in the United States in 2020.

But the iconic salon closed in 2018 after an 18-year run.

Eys closure was the culmination of years of internal strife, with Brice stepping down in 2018 amid allegations of sexual harassment and the company’s board of directors voting to terminate his contract in 2019.

In 2017 the beauty industry was rocked by the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal, as hundreds of women came forward with allegations of harassment and assault, many of which were never fully resolved.

The Weinstein scandal forced many to reconsider the role of women in the industry, with a new generation of women embracing a more positive and inclusive approach.

Today, Elys is a part of a wave of beauty brands and fashion houses that are taking on the fashion world, with brands such as Chanel, Dior, Prada, Gucci and Burberry launching their own brands, and brands such the Prada Group and LVMH Group launching new lineups of beauty products. 

Elys Beauty, located in the West Hollywood neighborhood of Sunset Blvd., closed its last day of business on Friday, December 20, 2018.

Its demise is the latest in a string of landmark closings that have been the subject of criticism by both women of colour and LGBTQ people. 

A few weeks ago, the LVMh Group, a private equity firm that is owned by the billionaire investor Warren Buffett, announced that it would be launching a new line of high-end makeup in 2019, which will feature three lipsticks, three eyeshadows and a gloss.

The new line will also include a highlighter for the eyes, and a high-quality blush. 

While the beauty world may be changing, beauty is not.

We’re seeing more and more people embrace the beauty that they have grown up with and embrace it in new ways, from the creation of lipsticks to the creation and distribution of highlighters and highlitzers, says Sheryl Naughton, president and founder of the Women’s Foundation. 

“It’s important for us to recognize that this beauty is part of the fabric of the American experience, and that is to say that we’re always looking to make the world a better place,” Naughtons statement reads.

“The beauty industry is a reflection of the diversity of the country.

That diversity is what is inspiring so many people, and the beauty of this world is that we have it, and we can embrace it and use it to create positive change.” 

With the current political climate, the spotlight is on the future of the beauty and fashion industry. 

The American beauty industry, however, is still struggling to find a foothold, with an industry that is predominantly white, predominantly male, and has been a focus of the Trump administration. 

In 2018, the makeup and hair products industries saw an increase in turnover, as brands were forced to adapt to new trends. 

According to a 2017 study, 77% of women and 83% of men said they were dissatisfied with the makeup they were wearing in 2017. 

Meanwhile, in 2018, an American Beauty Association survey found that women were still unhappy with the quality of their products, with 51% saying they were unsatisfied with the way they were treating their skin, and 47% saying their hair was too oily. 

As the makeup industry has been under attack for its lack of diversity, the fashion industry is also struggling. 

This is the first time the beauty, fashion, and hair industries have faced the same backlash, which is what sparked the recent boycotts of beauty companies and brands. 

More than 50 brands have cancelled their upcoming events in the US, with the L’Oreal Co. announcing it would not be attending any upcoming events until 2018. 

Kardashian, who also hosts the popular beauty show, “Beauty and the Beast,” said that she and the show’s producers had been working hard to find ways to address the issue of sexual assault in the entertainment industry, and were optimistic about the future. 

 “I am a huge fan of the show.

I watched it from the very beginning and it was an important part of my life for years, so I thought it was a perfect fit,” she said.

“This is a very real issue that needs to be addressed, and I think the industry has an obligation to be part of that conversation.

I think we need to do more to ensure that the women and girls that we work with in our industry are treated with respect and dignity.”
