TechRadars Barbie Beauty Salon, a new fashion brand launched by Barbie creator Joanne Robinson, has gone on sale.
The new line is a limited edition collection that includes the doll, as well as an exclusive figure of the actress, and two accessories.
“In a world that’s more comfortable and comfortable-looking than ever before, it’s the perfect way to get dressed up,” Robinson says.
Robinson, a self-proclaimed “body positivity and empowerment expert” who has previously opened up about her personal life, first created the doll as a toy for her son and daughter in 2016.
Now she is using it to highlight her brand.
“There are a lot of girls who feel they don’t look good enough,” Robinson tells the magazine.
“The doll gives them a space to express themselves.
It’s like a mirror, where they can see their body, and it’s a really empowering way to be yourself.”
Robinson is a self said to be “a self-confessed body positivity advocate and a fierce advocate for body posity”.
In 2016, Robinson wrote a blog post about how she thought women were too afraid to express their bodies.
“I’ve been called a slut and a slut-shaming,” Robinson said.
“It’s not fair.”
In 2017, Robinson said she would rather work as a teacher, which she describes as the “less painful and more fulfilling” job.
She told the magazine she felt the doll would help people to feel confident and to “make more of themselves”.
