Vicky’s Beauty Salon, a popular beauty salon in Pune, has recently been hit by a major outbreak of acne, reports Business Standard.
The infection was reported by the health department of Pune’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on February 12.
According to the health officer, the outbreak was traced to a batch of five cosmetics from Vickys flagship store in the mall.
It has since been brought under control and the company has been notified of the outbreak, reports PTI.
Vicky has been providing cosmetics to its clients in the area since its inception in 2013.
Vickys customer service team has been asked to step up their preventive measures and offer new products, according to a statement issued by the company.
The department has requested the management to immediately make cosmetic samples available to customers.
The cosmetics in question are a moisturiser called Vicky Shine and an eye shadow, according a press release.
The outbreak was reported in February and was not immediately confirmed, but sources told Business Standard that the outbreak of this type was not uncommon for the cosmetics industry.
The outbreak has not been confirmed by any government agencies, however, a department spokesperson confirmed that it was under control.
The health department has also sent a message to customers of Vicky, urging them to make sure to wear eye makeup to avoid contact with the contaminated products.
